Mr. Harrover- By what right do you and Mr. Aveni think that you are deserving of re-election! You have overseen the increase of our taxes, condonned the flood of illegals which have ruined our community, sat idlely by while our schools have wasted millions of dollars for ever declining results. The two of you have helped turned Manassas from a peaceful quiet community into a ghetto. In a better day you would have been tarred, feathered and run out of town long before now. Your contempt for true American values is astonishing.

  2. Andy,

I guess you are running again. Hmm, wonder if y’all could get a donky Kong game for the event? That would be awesome.

Wow…open the note to see the comments as I laughed about Donkey Kong….and the first comment I read is a barrell tossed at Andy “Kong”.

The forthcoming year is going to be interesting.

  4. Andy, you have done a tremendous job under difficult circumstances. I applaud you and look forward to lending my support as you seek reelectionn

It is true that you have failed to straighten out congress and you have likewise failed to personally achieve peace among all nations, but I will overlook those failings and support you anyway.

  5. Well, let’s see. I’ve got 1 vote for tarring and feathering, two for Donkey Kong and one of support. Maybe I should rethink this politics thing…:)

  6. I’m with you Andy, even though I AM a Donkey Kong fan. Ah, how many hours of my youth and how many quarters did I waste in THAT (and PacMan of course)!

    From my BlackBerry Storm…

  7. Andy,
Welcome to the world of running for office as an
    incumbent.

(Remember transporting my son and his pals to
Flip Dizzy’s (sp?) and giving them rolls of quarters).

  8. Andy, please run.

    And bike.

    And blog.

And enlist Erin’s Yuume Productions for your campaign videos.

Somebody in the neighborhoods once commented that going to City Hall was like going to Mt. Olympus. You make it less so for people like Mr. Punihaole from the new neighborhood leaders’ group at citizen’s time last night.

  9. I wish the both of you the best of luck.
These are tough times and we need leaders at the local level.
Making unpopular decisions while living within our means is not for the faint of heart.

Also, I wouldn’t count on a campaign contribution from Mr Defender. LOL

  10. Cindy and Bud, thanks for your comments! On the topic of Mr. Punihaole, I’ve got to say that was pretty impressive. He sat in the audience for 2 hours to get up and thank us for the neighborhood conference.

It is humbling when someone is willing to wait that long to simply say thanks. I haven’t been on the Council for 20 years but I bet that doesn’t happen very often and honestly, all I did was support the project. The staff did the legwork so the real kudos belong to them and citizen volunteers like you guys for getting it done.

  11. I send the same encouragement to Marc Aveni to run, also. He just gave an excellent presentation on stream mitigation to Leadership Prince William — I didn’t know he was an environmental scientist working for the county — another asset to our city government and our city utility commission since safe drinking water, flooding and impacts of population and development on the environment and the Chesapeake Bay go across jurisdictions.

But I also encourage others to run — it was great seeing how many came forward and spoke for Steve Smith’s seat on the council. One of the things I’ve learned from study circles and LPW is, the more diverse a group is, the better decisions they make. If everyone is like-minded, you don’t get the full picture.

  12. Defender is not a happy person! Thanks for all you do Andy and Marc. I don’t always agree but that’s what makes the system work. Keep it up guys.

  13. You can please some of the folks, some of the time, but never all of the folks, all the time.

As stated above, even though you and I disagee on some issues…I still like you! LOL Politics is a tough job and at least I can say that you are an HONEST POLITICIAN who listens to what folks have to say without beating them up or making them feel like “they are ignorant” even IF they don’t have a clue!!!! I feel as if you VALUE EVERYONE’s opinion and truly consider both sides of ANY situation.

You have TOUGH SKIN and take it all in stride when folks are beating down your door with baseball bats. I like you because you don’t “BEAT ME UP” when we do disagree, unlike some others “sittin’ up there” have done.

I wish you the best of luck!
