It is great to have a running back rush for a hundred yards in
a game – last night OHS had two; Thomas Keith and
Vidal Greene each gained 105 yards on the ground.
A real all around effort by the Eagles – the “D” held the
fort until the offense could get fully on track in the second half.
(And some 50 yard punts didn’t hurt).
Good to see such a large vocal OHS crowd, especially at an
away game.
Maybe for those of us who don’t follow high school football, could somebody summarize this process for us? What’s the playoff structure, where we’re at, what’s left to be state champs again?
Now this is something we should all be proud of. One State Championship in 2006, runner up last year, and on a roll this year. All from a City of 36,000 give or take a few.
Not only are our kids excelling on the playing field, they also continue to do us proud in the classroom. This school system is helping to develop incredible people, the staff, parents and mostly the students are doing wonderful things. We received some really good news about our student publications. All three – yearbook (Eyrie), literary magazine (Connections) and newspaper (The Talon) – were recently awarded Trophy Class recognition by the VHSL. Trophy Class recognition is the highest honor a student publication can receive. Of the 312 VHSL member schools in Virginia – 32 received Trophy Class recognition for yearbook, 15 for literary magazine, and only 11 for newspaper. Only one other high school in Virginia received Trophy Class recognition for all three of its student publications. Therefore, I think it can be safely said that our students and publication advisors (Ruth Lindenfelser, Kim Schell and Audrey Swain) achieved the equivalent of a state championship. Connections also received a national GOLD medal, yes, national! GO EAGLES!!!!!!
Now you’ve gone too far. While the football players might do well in the classroom, our school system as a whole stinks, and you are part of the problem. Do you realize we do not have to spend so much on illegals and esl classes, thanks to the Supreme Court? Though, I doubt you won’t do anything about it. Did you know only less than 50% of the HS ESL students graduate? Ya, that’s a stat we can all be proud of.
BTW, do you think Michael Steele is racist for bashing obama? I believe you told us last fall that if obama is elected, racism would be at the root of the people complaining about him. Do you still feel the same?
Sorry to upset you com but I love these kids and the great things they are doing. It’s never going too far when you are praising children and their wonderful accomplishments.
GO EAGLES!!
COM,
Tim Demeria is one of the good guys. He is
fighting for the young people of our community every
day with every means he can find. There is no
question where his heart is. Our schools don’t
have a bigger fan and supporter on the athletic field or
in the classroom.
I’m not questioning his support for the schools and I think anyone on the school board should be a huge supporter of schools and the sports teams. I’m concerned about how much money we are spending on schools and where to cut the waste.
All I hear from the school board is whining about how much more money they need, never how much money they can return or not take because they have taken a serious look at how much money is wasted and what they have done to stop the wasteful spending.
Thanks for the kind words Steve. See you Friday? I sure hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving. If I hear that the game is changed because of the weather I will post ASAP! GO EAGLES!!

What Supreme Court case are you referencing?
November 23, 2009 at 7:54 pm
Tim,
Who is T-man?
I’ve linked an article that talks about the case.

I only asked, because you called me that in your earlier post.
