My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

iPhone

Well, I went out and got myself an iPhone.  After using it for a couple of weeks I have a couple of observations.

The first is that the phone hardware seems well-built and sturdy.  The software is simply the best interface that I’ve ever used on a mobile device.  Apple has gotten the software exactly right.  It is amazing, especially if you need to synch your desktop emails, etc with the phone.

The 3G service from AT&T just isn’t that great.  The speed, when you have a good signal, isn’t bad but this is exactly the problem: the service oscillates between full strength and no service when the phone hasn’t been moved.  It reminds me of cell service back in the day.  On the plus side, when I switch it back to “normal” service, the signal is very steady.  I suppose that if you go closer to DC it probably gets better.

Overall, I’m glad I got it and I think it will only get better if AT&T continues to build their network….
