You’ll see my little widget over there on the right! I’m signed up for a 100-mile bike ride down the C&O canal in the fall to raise money for Alzheimer’s research.
Erin and I rode the 30-miler last year and it was great. The C&O canal towpath is pretty crowded until you get outside the beltway and then it thins out pretty quickly. The track also gets a lot rougher. Not mountain-bike rough but coarser than the virtual highway closer to Washington. It was Erin’s first long ride and she nearly crashed into the canal at one point – a stark reminder to Daddy that he needs to be a patient rider!! I didn’t see her crash immediately – huge guilt trip – and not one she has let me forget…:)
I’ve signed up for a team of 3 and I’m trying to convince Sarah and Erin to ride with me. If you want to ride, we can always have more. If not, I could use some help raising the $500 I’m signed up for!!

C&O Canal Towpath is a great thing…years ago, there was a Volksmarch along part of it out of Leesburg. Of course, that was MANY years ago – like mid-80s…:-)
And after riding, warm up your walking shoes for May 29th. There is an Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk that Saturday beginning/ending Harris Pavilion. Once the flyers are done, I’ll be providing where I can to spread the word.
This is quite a coup for Manassas as those Memory Walks bring in lots and lots of folks. Old Town will be a busy place that Saturday!

Agreed! If anyone can spare a few bucks, please click the link over there and help me raise some money for a great cause!
