From Timmy:
“Game has been changed. Osbourn vs. Massaponax Friday 7:30 at Liberty High School. Corner of 17 & 28.”
GO EAGLES!!
In the cold Liberty stadium and in the face of a howling wind, Osbourn came up short last night 26-10. I don’t know a lot about high school football but Massaponax seems to be a team with at least one prospect and a legit threat to score from anywhere on the field. In the face of such opposition, I thought the Eagles performed admirably. The wind played havoc with our passing game which forced the majority of the offense onto the running game. The ground game produced but when we got closer to the end zone, the yards got tougher. Kudos to the defense who, in the second half was incredibly stingy.
Congrats to the team and their coaches who produced a great season and a lot of excitement for their families and our community. I’m incredibly proud of our team!

Tim
Thank you for the information. Know as a “sod guy”, fake
grass “plastic” fields are not a favorite of yours, but
OHS was able to use its impressive team speed to
soundly defeat GW-Danville at the Liberty site and trust
they will do the same to Massaponax. Plus it is certainly
a shorter trip for Eagle fans than driving all the way
past Fredericksburg.
Sorry to miss this one, but know there will a huge
crowd cheering the team to another playoff victory.
(I’m in Holly Springs, N.C. enjoying being with my family
for the holiday weekend).
Happy Thanksgiving!
Go Eagles!

No problem Steve, enjoy your weekend. I have a feeling our side will be packed as usual, not only do we now have a great team, we have always had great fans.

The Eagles did not pull it out tonight, going down 27-10. Congrats on a good season Eagles.

The final score was 26-10. The defence was great in the second half, the Eagles had 5 turnovers and it’s hard to win at this level doing that. I am real proud of our kids and hope our seniors don’t dwell on this game. 9-4 and a regional runner-up, pretty darn good. GO EAGLES!

A run deep into the state play-offs is something to be very
proud of and Osbourn, in rececent years, has made it
their standard (including a state championship). The
entire Manassas community has every reason to thank
this year’s team for another fine season.
Go Eagles!

Tim, you are right – the winless team I covered in 1974 for the
MJM was, indeed, the Osbourn “Yellow Jackets” . It
would be several more years before you and the other
“Eagles” came along to start a winning tradition.
“Osbourn exploded in the first quarter to gain 95 yards to
favored Fauquier’s 16, but fizzled in the last three periods
to lose 14-0 Friday at Osbourn. The Commonwealth District
encounter extended the Yellow Jacket’s losing streak,
stretching over three seasons, to 17.”
