At long last, the draft fire code will be unveiled on Wednesday. The meeting will be at 6:00 at PD. The code represents the consolidation of several parts of the ordinance into a comprehensive whole. In meeting with the City Attorney to craft this, I believe that it represents the conceptual model presented to the council as close as possible.
I don’t know how we will proceed after this meeting but, as with any draft ordinance, there is normally some period for public comment and an allocation for consideration of the comments.

The Neighborhood Conference is Nov. 14 from 9 am to 3 pm at the Boys & Girls Club. That would be a great time for citizen input since the theme is Ready Manassas and emergency preparedness.

Andy, the Agenda online is showing it to be held at MCPD. Which is the correct place? Thanks!

My source is saying 5:30 at City PD.
I am also told this is reading only, no discussion or public comment/questions.

Andy, excellent meeting tonight – our young Asst. City Attorney did an excellent job. Also, kudos for the draft ordinance (public version which has some core content as the Council’s confidential version) being put up on the website.
I hope the link for it is “front and center” so to speak on the City’s website so more folks not directly involved with any aspect of Fire & Rescue can take a gander at it.
And my thanks to you for your hard work leading the Ad-Hoc Committee. Out-dang-standing effort, Mr. Councilman!!!!

Shame there was no media attention. I guess they were occupied by the PWC promotions event.
Its been a long process to reach this point by there is bright light at the end of the tunnel now! Good work Andy/Martin/et al and keep plugging and let’s hope this is done and codified before the next budget cycle spins into high gear.

Andy, here’s an example of how to get the information out – link the City Web site to your social networking sites.
