Allright, the Dems have a ticket. I don’t know that I agree with Obama’s plan or view of the world but his speech was amazing – especially when you compare his public speaking ability to mine…:)
Next up, the Republicans: I’m still thinking that Ridge will get the nod but here’s my list of 3: Ridge, Romney and Sarah Palin. Palin has long been one of my dark horses and either she or Romney would keep the conservatives happy. Ridge would have more appeal in the middle and there’s more votes to be had during the general election in the middle than on the right but if your base stays home it doesn’t matter…..Clearly a tough choice for Mac and we’ll all find out shortly.

Last night was a historic one for America. Another giant step
was taken in the long march from slavery and segregation to
a day when every citizen has a fair opportunity to seek the
highest office in the land. We are all the better for that.
(The first campaign I ever worked in was as a 10th grader in
Charlotte handing out literature door to door for JFK. As a young
Methodist, it certainly opened my eyes to anti-Catholic
bigotry. In 2008, Joe Biden is selected to run as VP and his
Catholic faith is seen as a plus, as was Gov. Kaine’s when he ran
here in Virginia. Times do change.)

John McCain showed tremendous class yesterday with his
gracious TV ad congratulating Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin is the GOP V.P. selection!
Whoever wins, history will be made in Jan.
Either America’s first Afro-American President or our
first female V.P.
Exciting times.

FYI-
-The parking garage in Old Town Manassas opened to the public
today! Strike up the band. Great views from the top floor.
– All I know about Gov. Sarah Palin is what has been in the news
during the last 36 hours, but having played a little HS sports,
I noted she was a star on a state champion basketball team
and was nick-named “Barracuda”. The Dems would be wise
not to take her lightly.

Kudo”s to Obama for a great speach. But great speachmakers are plentiful in this nation, great leaders are not. I am not sure McCain will be a great leader, but he has far more of the qualities that go into making one than does Obama. So I guess my choice will come down to a few key issues, and who I think has more potential to “lead” (and not just pander to the media with “political” statements about leading).
Oh, more kudos to Obama for HIS OWN comments about Palin over the weekend. Fell short of calling off the dogs though, too bad, he could have shown America much more with a stronger reaction.
