My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

Mighta been wrong

I suppose that I’m a bit of a bonehead – Obama will have to select his VP first as the Democratic convention is before the Republican convention.  I’m still convinced that it was an good argument though.  Interestingly, the Democrats appear to have opened a headquarters over on Lee avenue.  They actually called me this evening to see if I would be interested in volunteering for the campaign.  I told the nice person that I didn’t expect to spend my time working for Obama this fall but thanks for asking…:)

  1. Andy,

I am not at all surprised that the Dems asked you if you would be interested in volunteering. Over the many campaigns I have worked the Dems have often demonstrated that while engergized, they often lack situational/locational awareness. Putting up signs on public property in the city, trying to canvass the crowd at HMI-sponsered events or private events at the pavillion all point to the fact that the local Dems and their out-of-area volunteers never take the time to learn the lay of the land. This has been a huge advantage to the GOP. As you know, every volunteer is from the area, knows the area, and knows the rules of campaigning. Work Smart.

Oh, it looks like we will have our “Magic” HQ again this year. Location, location, location.

  2. So how about the Republican VP?
As of this morning, the smart money is apparently on Mitt Romney.
Did read today that a dark horse might be Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson.
    Stay tuned.

  3. Personally, Mitt Romeny would turn the ultra conservatives in the party towards the couch on November 4. And that would add up to a good number of lost votes. The woman on the ticket could absolutely scoop up the disgruntled women on the Dems side who are still not giving in nor will they. I watched the vote roll call and Hillary did get votes. Question is: what kind of an attack dog would she be? a younger woman could offset McCain’s age factor. The country overall might not want anything out of Texas this year!

  4. Tonight, put my dollar down on Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

  5. I am betting on one of the very capable women currently being vetted. A few days ago, my money was on Hutchinson. Now it’s on Sarah Palin. Romney Huckabee and Pawlenty are out, as of this morning, reported on Fox. It’s going to be a woman. That much I am sure of.
