My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

The swearing in for the new Council was last night. I would like to thank my fellow council members for electing me to the position of Vice Mayor. I have no doubt that this Council, with Mr. Parrish as mayor, will continue to move our fair city forward. Congratulations to the newly elected Council members. Congrats to Mr. Way for being selected to chair the land use committe – I’m sure he’ll be sick of me soon!! Congrats to Mr. Aveni for being selected as chair of the Finance committee and to Mr. Randolph as chair of personnel. Both are very important positions.

I am unsure why the Journal has refused to write a story about this important event in our City….

On another front, there is a land-use meeting tomorrow where we will discuss some ideas for the vision for the city and what that vision means. If you’re interested, stop by city hall tomorrow at 5:30, second floor conference room.

    FYI-
After the Land Use meeting, citizens may want to walk down
to the Harris Pavilion – a free concert by the US Army Band
“Pershing’s Own” – is slated for 7:30 tonight (Thursday July 3rd).
They are always very popular – suggest you bring a folding
chair since on hand seating is limited.

Congratulations on being elected Vice Mayor, Andy! Thanks also for finding creative solutions to get the funding to move the City ahead. I look forward to seeing how the schools use their science and technology money.

  3. Kudos Hal and Andy! You have both worked tirelessly over the years and especially this past one at finding solutions that are workable in solving challenges on many fronts. We are fortunate to have both of you as ones who are ‘homegrown’ serving our unique community.
