My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

Swearing In

On July first at 5:30 the new City Council will be sworn in at City Hall.  Hal will be sworn in as Mayor.  Mark Wolfe, Jon Way and Steve Smith will be sworn in as Council members.  Election for Vice Mayor will take place and those officials who serve the Council directly will be reappointed. Open to the public.  Hope to see you there.

Nice editorial in Sunday’s MJM and a good news article today about
the changing of the guard in the Manassas mayor’s office.

(Historic footnote: Hal’s grandfather, as well as his father, served
in Manassas government. Edgar G. Parrish was on the
Manassas Town Council from 1925 to 1947.)

  2. Harrover for Vice-Mayor!

  3. Too bad the Washington Post in today’s Metro focused on the “Sign” rather than on the new administration. Glad to see the City taking the Sign’s owner to court for numerous permit violations. I guess, despite all the City’s best intentions, the City has to go to court over this. It was likely inevitable.

    Andy,
Congratulations on being selected Vice-Mayor by your
    fellow council members!

  5. Congrats Andy!

As for the “sign”, yet another County “mess” the City is left having to clean up. You have to wonder if those who erected the sign (and support it’s existence in the first place) even REALIZE that which they are complaining about is Prince William County, NOT City of Manassas? sigh. I’m all for free speech, but if one what’s to target complaints about Prince William County, they ought to be doing so IN the County!

DavidB: have you read the sign? It mentions BOTH jurisdictions. if you are going to complain about the sign, at least read it and know of what you speak about. It is kind of like the person who complains about his leaders in government but never votes. By the way, I believe the sign should go and go very soon.
