My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

A Note about my political future

I really didn’t want to have to address this early but shoes are dropping all around and I want to clarify my position in the coming electoral contests.  Heck, redistricting isn’t even complete yet and there’s at least one candidate already fundraising!  Every elected position seems to be in play.

I believe I have established a good record on the Council and I feel as though I’ve added positive contributions to my community.  I respect all of my peers on the Council and our partners on the School Board.  I’m pretty sure that they respect me.  I try to avoid the higher levels of government but I do, by and large, like the people.  The city staff has been great to work with and have generally facilitated all of my crazy ideas.  The citizens have provided good feedback and my heart is here in Manassas.

To all of my supporters I say thanks for your faith and support.  I owe a debt of gratitude to my family and my “kitchen cabinet” for your thoughts, prayers and ideas.  Well, on to it….

So, here’s the announcement I wanted to hold off on: I hereby announce that I will not seek nor will I accept the nomination of my party for President of the United States.  I was going to try to hold this announcement back but the crash press conference held by Sen. John Thune has forced my hand.  I know that this seems sudden but I want everyone to know that I carefully weighed all of my options before arriving at this decision.

  1. Ho, ho.

LBJ must be roiling (or something) somewhere.

And for heaven’s sake, just watch for falling rocks and stay on the road!

Ah, thanks for the large roar of laughter you have given us all!

The second best roll of laughter is as we watch redistricting around us. The manuveurs going on are interesting to watch, and the cries to create another Magisterial District west of Hoadly Road (or is that restore the old Manassas one?) at the cost of $1million dollars keep resounding by some.

You called it right though for PWC – there will be most likely be so many challenges to the Group of Eight, it will be an interesting election cycle to watch. Although I feel for the PWC Registrar Office – like Linda Womack told the Council, with 2011 and possiblitity of having to run five elections, the workload will be incredible.

  3. Ah man, so much for my newest bumper sticker.

  4. So what exactly am I suppose to do with these “compromising” photos of you now?

  5. Well, you can’t retire on them…:)

  6. Dang. There goes any chance I had at SecDef.

  7. Phew. That was close. We would have had to tell you there’s nothing beyond….The Andy Show.

    “Cue the sun!”

  8. Thank you for the comic relief, it was desperately needed today. 🙂

For those living in PWC or like to watch the reshifting of the lines, Virgina Virtucon has posted the PWC Precinct Data, and one poster down in the comments has done the breakouts (so no fooling with the spreadsheet needed). Makes for interesting reading!

Andy, you need to continue building your brand with positive (and free) media attention. Join
Delegate Miller to fight for the little smelly
menhaden – with a heart of gold – vs. the
Official Pillager of the Chesapeake – Omega Protein!

  11. I’ll leave that to Jackson. Marathon Land Use meeting last night and I’m all worn out…:)

  12. BIG B-BALL GAME TONIGHT!

Osbourn vs Patrick Henry-Roanoke 6 PM at OHS.

An Eagle victory will put them in the state finals
    for the first time.

    OHS!

  13. The city agenda for Monday night is up on
the city website. It is full of interesting
    “talking point opportunities”, especially for
    someone seeking national office.

  14. Maybe the US is out, but Egypt, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria and Libya and maybe Syria are still available.

  15. I’m not sure that they’re more appealing. Ex-presidents there have a way of ending up dead…

nawwww, Andy…you just need a strong Generalissimo. Somebody ruthless who will do what it takes. Hmmm, sounds like if you took the country, I might get a promotion up the line from Sergeant…LOL!

  17. Osbourn 80
    Partrick Henry – Roanoke 46

Eagles advance to play Potomac at OHS
    7pm Sat. Feb. 26th.

(The third quarter of tonight’s game was the
best basketball I’ve ever seen OHS play.
They blew a close game wide open.)

    Go Eagles!

  18. That was not very Shermanesque. There is still a chance.
