My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

  1. With more bad news from the high school, I think it’s past time to do some house cleaning. Pope needs to go, along with the entire school administration.

And in keeping with the wishes of you and other Council members, who want to attract well earning families to the City, how is having another scandal at a City school going to help that cause?

  2. I don’t want to agree with the previous guy but if the school board isn’t going to dosomething then the council should.

  3. “Do something.”

An employee of a business does something wrong, unrelated to the business.

Solution: Fire his supervisors at work.

What are you people drinking, I mean thinking?

  4. Huh,

If this was a one time incident, I would agree with you. However, this is far from a one time incident. And, when there is a long history of sexual misconduct, drug issues, lax oversight of the kids(kids having sex in school) it’s more than just one employee. Some might call it institutional mismanagement.

  5. Andy,

I just read the Journal Messenger article about the expected delays on route 28 for the ongoing construction.

I sure hope the Council keeps this in mind the next time a developer says their project will not add to the traffic or will not cause issues. I know it’s not the fault of the Council, but this should serve as an example that any construction project/development is going to have an impact regardless of the lies being told by those pushing those projects.

  6. Hectic? Yeah, Andy, have to agree with you the Council is in for a run for sure. Monday night brought sex, transportation, redevelopment issues, and electrical rates. All that in a span of about three hours…

    Sounds like a HBO series.

Snowstorm now projected not to give a white Chirstmas, but the 2nd and 3rd Days are going to be a mess…especially if the computer is telling the truth the low will stall off the coast.

Another Nor’easter maybe? Wonder this time if the residents, HOAs and Commercial Land owners will shovel the walks?

  10. I think a HBO show or other cable network show would be neat, and it would provide much needed revenue for the City. “As Manassas Turns”.

  11. “Last year was a good one for local banks.
The top five in Prince William County are:
    – Peoples Bank of Manassas
    – First National Bank of Quantico
    – National Bank of Manassas
    – Bank of Qccuquan
    – Bank of Nokesville
(The county’s largest financial institution is
    Piedmont Savings & Loan).”

  12. “Miss Martha Wood, an employee at the Manassas
Town Hall, displays one of the auto tags for 1961
that features and advertises the Civil War Centennial
and the role of Manassas in the historic event.”

“Manassas business offices have been moved to
the first floor of Town Hall from the second floor,
according to Town Manager T. Nelson Elliott.
This was made possible by the fire department
moving to their modern new building. The
Manassas Police Dept. is still located in part
    of Town Hall’s first floor.”

  13. ” Directors have accepted a consultant’s plan for a
60 bed hospital in Manassas and fund raising
has begun. Mr. W.E. Trusler of Piedmont Federal
presented a $10,000 check to W. Caton Merchant Jr.,
President of the Prince William Hospital Corporation and
    Mrs. Selwyn Smith, representing the
Junior Women’s Club of Manassas, presented
a check for $106.” (Photo caption)
