My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

Council Meeting

Sorry for the delay in posting this but I’m pretty busy with other stuff.  As Ray has noted, the good Dr. Kelly will present his study on how the City should regulate sexually oriented busiensses tonight.  It’ll be over at the Conference Room at Public Works at 5:30.  After that, the Council will move back to chambers for public hearings.  Hope to see some folks there tonight.

UPDATE:  Here is a link to Dr. Kelly’s report.

  1. Thanks for putting this meeting info up. Hopefully as large a crowd will turn out to hear the results of the study on how-to with SOB’s, as did with their fierce opposition to the 4th SOB in the City of Manassas moving into do business. Perhaps this one got the most attention because it is located in Old Town and the other 3 are within the city limits. To me it makes little difference, we now have 4!

  2. Wish I could be there, but the early start time will mean I will have to miss it. Will the report be available for download?

  3. After it has been presented, it’ll be on the City website. If not, I’ll pdf it and stick it here.

Thanks, Andy. Looking forward to it and reviewing the report.

  5. Glad I had the opportunity to attend — thanks Ray and Andy for getting the word out. Appreciated learning more. Wish more could have been there.

  6. And glad to hear common sense prevailed in his statements: (1) he found no secondary effects because of the exisiting stores and (2) it all boils down to zoning issues.

And nice to see the part about permitting with the police to do background checks in his recommendations. Always wondered, when we “borrowed” from PWC Code, that part about PWC PD doing permits was not included.

Now for the reading…although going to skip the first half of the report for the most part since it is replicant of his other studies.

  7. Thanks for the link, Andy.
