School Budget

Dr. Pope, our Superintendent of Schools presented her budget to the School Board on Tuesday night.  The JM characterizes the budget as “sparse” although it is $1 million more than last years.  Most likely the Governor’s VRS shell game (that half-baked scheme reminds me of Gilmore and the “repealing” of the car tax.  He seems to be playing a lot of games with money.) will eat most of their increase in revenue.

Here’s a link to the JM article  but I couldn’t find a link to an actual copy of the budget….post one if you’ve got it.

In all fairness.

AHHH!!!

I get a daily update via email from the Virginia Municipal League when the enemy, sorry, (LOL!!) the General Assembly is in session.  Those updates are never happy news.  It’s always, help us stop such and such a bill or the world will end.  I dutifully freak out and blog post about our precarious position.  Especially where M&T or BPOL are concerned.

Equal Time

In Colbert-like “tip of the hat, wag of the finger” kind of thing I would offer an equal-time moment to mention the following bills that our very own Delegate Miller has co-patroned that are damn good legislation:

This isn’t an exhaustive list, just some obvious candidates.  Some of the others don’t have full summaries or I haven’t read the full bill.  By the way, if you want to see a list of the workload that these guys have to put up with, take a look at this page.  Remember that this is only one committee and only the bills in committee.
