My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

Route 28 Project

There has been some discussion in threads below about the Route 28 project.  I recieved this map from the City a couple of days ago and thought I would share it.  The green line is the new centerline of the overpass.  The red line where 7-11 currently is indicates that the road there would be closed but Cockrell would go all the way through – as would Ashton to Godwin.  So, click on the image to get a larger version but without furter ado:

Now, before you ask…the connector ramp is for all traffic going from 28->Wellington road and vice versa.  Recall that at the highest point the bridge will be 30′ above the existing grade.  It isn’t elegant but that close to the railroad there just aren’t many options.

  1. Getting in and out of my neighborhood is going to be tough.

  2. Andy,

I don’t know if you can pass this on to the right person or not, but there is a dangerous situation as a result of the construction. There is an added right turn lane on East bound Wellington at 28, along with the three usual lanes, two of which permit left turns and one now is straight only. However, on the other side of the intersection, there is still just the two lanes on Wellington. Which leads people to think the right lane, is still a lane to either turn or go straight ahead, which of course will cause them to either have to cut off the car to the left of them or run up on the curb.
