I saw that the bricks on Center Street are being torn up again because they were falling apart….again. In looking at those things every day, it appears to my non-expert eye that the problem is with the underlying base. However, I was irritated: we shouldn’t be spending money tearing those things up every year.
I inquired with the City Manager this evening about those crosswalks at the Finance Committee meeting and he indicated that the crosswalks are still under warranty and the citizens aren’t paying for it. I think they look good and if we aren’t paying to fix them then I’m ok with it. However, it does cause traffic jams and I wish it would be cleared up once and for all….

I am glad that you inquired about who is paying for it cause I was wondering myself, and I bet a bunch of other people were too. I will be glad when its done cause when you work in Old Town the traffic jams get old after a while!

You know I’m not a road engineer, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn last night, so that counts for something right?
And, I guess the people in charge of “fixing” Center Street are not road engineers either…
That also goes for the people who did the “improvements” to the rail crossing at Wellington by Prince William Street. However, at the time, I recall our head of Utilities, Mr. Moon saying it was a good enough of a job. With leadership like that, no wonder we have some pretty crappy roads.

com, do yoiu ever have anything nice to say? I doubt Mike Moon ever said any such thing and if he did you have written it out of context. If you aren’t happy, why don’t you move?

I’d love to move, but thanks to illegals and the crappy school system we have, there is no way I can sell my house at anywhere near the price I need to in order to just break even.
I’ll look for the article where I read what Mike said.
