My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

Corn Maze

If you have never tried the corn maze in the Plains get thee hence. The people who give the talk before sending you through the maze say that it’ll take over an hour to complete and they are correct. Bring water. The maze is about 5 acres in size.  Thanks to the drought this years maze is a little easier as the corn is shorter and thinner.  I’ve worked in corn fields before and when there is any rain at all the stalks are much taller than the 5′ that are the average this year.  If it was a normal year, this maze would be really tough.

  1. Andy,

There’s several houses in Manassas with corn mazes in their front lawns, although they call them La Maze de Maize.

  2. On the subject of “mazes” – today’s MJM (10-10-2007) has close
to fifty ads in the classified section under “Substitude Trustee’s Sale”
i.e.- foreclosure. Local communities will need some able guides
and a strong dose of good luck to make it through the twists and turns
in the current economic maze. May take awhile.

  3. A tinge of fall in the air, football, harvest festivals, election and mazes –
    means hunting season is close.
Would note proposed Virginia HB 29.01: Limits on hunting attorneys.
    A. The Board of Game and Inland Fisheries shall establish by regulation
a hunting season and bag limit for the trapping, hunting and taking
    of attorneys.
    B. Such regulations shall:
    1. Make it unlawful to chase, herd, or harvest attorneys from a snow
    ski, hovercraft or air boat.
    2. Declare it unlawful to shout “whiplash”, “ambulance” or “free
scotch” for the purpose of trapping attorneys.
    C. In promulgating such regulations the Board shall consider the
proliferation of attorneys and their classification as a nuisance species.

Who says Richmond never has good ideas?

  4. I did a corn maze near Ocean City, Maryland. Very fun. Now I’m rather tied up dealing with mortgage short sales and foreclosures flooding my office. Maybe next summera another corn maze. A maize maze 🙂
