My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

And They’re Gone!

That intersection over there was empty this morning at 7:00 when I went through.  It was packed with people last night.  When I went though there this morning for a quick 25-mile ride, the only people around were from Public Works and they had the mess from last night pretty well in hand.  I know I saw many of those same folks working yesterday afternoon to get the event setup.  Thanks to those folks for their hard work.

The fireworks were great!  The interruption in the middle was due to some sort of fire but when they resumed, they were what we have come to expect.  The public safety folks did a great job maintaining order – between the heat, the crowd size and Mr. Fernandez’s antics there was a possibility for difficulty but our people kept it well in hand.

I’d also like to thank the Anonymous Donor who comes through every year to help cover the costs of the event.

The grass fire, which I assume was caused
by fireworks debris, seems to have
been limited to a grass area near the entrance
to the OHS baseball field. Thanks to quick
work by the fire department no damage,
except several patches of burned grass,
happened and the great fireworks show
quickly continued, to the delight of
    thousands in Old Town Manassas.

And shame that yo-yo at 9500 Liberty decided to try his protest to mar the gala. Drove by yesterday and all that was left was the Star of David tied between the trees.

Too bad our current ordinances do not contain one of the things from back around 1900 when you could not tie such junk to trees…or your horse for that matter to the tree.

I personally hope our residents of the Jewish Faith scream loud and clear over his offensive use of the symbol that remains.
