My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

I’m very bitter.

Dio died today. It makes me sad.  I liked his stuff.  I don’t know about the whole “horned hand” debate but I liked his music.  This is a sure sign that I’m getting old…

  1. I saw Ozzy on Lopez Tonight a few weeks back. He said he was open to a reunion tour. Probably sell scads of tickets but I suspect it would be like going to see The Beach Boys now…mere shadow of their former selves.

  2. I couldn’t believe Dio was 67. You are getting old, but Dio was way older. I checked out some of his vids on youtube and his pipes, even in the 80s, were incredible.

Horned hand? All part of the rock and roll lifestyle, IMHO.

    I’m bitter too.

“When the General Assembly wrapped up
the 2010 session it resolved many of its
problems by passing them on to local
governments …. the state used its power
as ‘rule maker’ to shift financial obligations
onto local governments, and ultimately to
    local real estate taxpayers”.

This week a GA member informed me that
    “You ain’t seen nothing yet”.

(Of course even as financial support is
reduced, they continue to increase mandates
    for local governments.)

    Grrr.

oh man…Dio. I remember well when he joined Black Sabbath to replace Ozzy and proceeded to write all the music for Black Sabbath’s great album “Heaven and Hell”.

ah, the horned hand…LOL…well, back in the day of him and Gene Simmons making it popular (old enough I be to remember), word was Dio took it up since he changed his last name to Dio based on a Mafioso of the 60s/70s. The horned hand is a very naughty hand sign around Corsica, parts of Italy…yes, yes, the old days of rock…LOL!

Have to agree with Dave about Ozzy….but hey, if he and the rest of the remaining Black Sabbath want to grab onto the Iron Man thing, right on!

  5. I’ve always found it interesting that within a very short time after Ozzy split from Sabbath that both produced probably the best albums of their careers.

Sabbath did it by adding a veteran (Dio) to their established lineup and Ozzy did it on the strength of his own song writing and the addition of a relative unknown – Randy Rhodes as the lynchpin of the sound on Blizzard of Oz….

  6. When a member of the Stones dies, I will shed a tear.

  7. Kinda felt the same way when Joey Ramone died. Then all the Ramones started dying.

  8. Hey Kipp, how about Brian Jones?

  9. I wasn’t born yet. Although by all accounts, he was the most talened of the group. They still rock today even without him, though.

  10. Did anyone checkout the latest release of Exile on Main St.? I downloaded it from itunes today and I think it’s a nifty piece of work. Especially if you combine it with some of the write-up in rolling stone and the Times about the background of the original songs and some of the newly re-done stuff…

    Pac-man hits the big 3-0!
(And is celebrated on Google today)

This is from Andy and my kids’ time.
I just remember handing out rolls of
    quarters and providing taxi service
    to Flip Dizzy’s.

  12. Yeah I miss Flip Dizzy’s too.
