I apologize for the slow posting. The Council has been slogging our way through the budget and I’ve been slogging my way through running my business and trying to train for my upcoming rides. There is no good news on the budget front. The economy keeps sucking and we keep cutting. I find my optimism being ground from me and I don’t like it. It’s time like these we learn to love what we had in the past. Manassas is hurting and she can use all the help you can offer…

Helps to do a daily grateful list — easy to do on your bike.
1. Crime rate is down. I did a ride-along with a police officer last Saturday night, and now I know why — I’m impressed!
2. Rain is filling up Lake Manassas and preparing the way in our yards for all that Osbourn athletic boosters mulch.
3.. The community continues to rally around Mayfield Intermediate School with donations. BB&T in Old Town just had a great Community Day taking in supplies for the school yesterday.
4. The 1 By Youth project in Georgetown South on April 24 has growing support — Walgreens hasn’t even opened their doors and they’re committing two fully staffed and suppied first aid tents for the 2,000 volunteers.
Life is good, Andy!

Any time I think I’ve got a hard job, difficult task, etc… I think of someone else who has it harder. Manassas Local Gov’t Vs. Baghdad Local Gov’t…. (Looking good Manassas!)
Or, even better, let’s compare training for a bike race: I have the sniffles today, and don’t feel like training Vs. Lance Armstrong had life threatening cancer and came back… not just to live, but to dominate bike racing. The sniffles just don’t feel so big and bad in comparison.
Remember this as well Mr. Harrover: You put yourself in a position of leadership for this community, you are obligated to “lead”. This includes the most difficult situations. Those whom you lead take cues from you as to how to feel about the future; If you look upset about a situation, how are we supposed to feel? You are the Quarterback, if you don’t think you can win this game, how should the rest of us feel?
Your honesty is refreshing, but you should never reveal weakness. Just my opinion….
Thank you for what you do, keep your head high, and we will all get through this.
