Just a quick note – we’re about halfway through the comment period the council established for the new public safety ordinance. I haven’t had any real input so far from anyone.
There was a question in another thread about the tower truck. The tower truck is out of service right now and looks to be out of service for the next month and a half. The reasons are various and sundry but the underlying cause is that the rig is 20 years old. The repairs look to be quite expensive because many of the parts we need have to be custom built. A new tower truck will cost about a million bucks so the cost of the current repairs needs to be balanced against the residual value of the rig and the cost of a new one and all of that needs to be balanced with our ability to afford either of the options.
In the interim, we’ve borrowed a rig from Sterling so we still have a tower if we need it. There are also a rig in the Park, Stonewall and Nokesville so we’re pretty well covered.
