I can’t take many more rainy days. The grass in the back yard looks like a hay field. I haven’t posted very much lately but I’ve been very busy with work the last week or so. Busy is good so I’ll take it.
On the City side, Battle street is all but done and it looks great. The budget, with a final vote at the next meeting, is all but done and we had pretty good Town Hall meeting at Haydon last night. Seems like we might have had at least one person launch their bid for a Council seat at that meeting. The “Fire & Rescue committee” will be meeting next week to take a look at things there.
With that, I’m off to work again. I’ll post more soon about how the appointment process and committee meetings are going.

Andy,
Some might say we are just catching up on the precipitation we missed out on during the winter. Though, I’m with you. I don’t mind the rain, but could do without it raining for days on end.

More like catching up on a couple years of not enough rain! This is great for the Lake (and thus the City water supply).
I guess I was lucky, I got out there Saturday morning and got the yard mowed before the rains hit in earnest. 4 very full yard waste bags though since the grass was so tall (double of normal). Several of my neighbors didn’t get their mowing in though, and this weekend so far isn’t shaping up to look like mowing weather either.
Oh well. I’d rather have this than the near droughts of recent years past.

Who knows exactly what is the normal amount of precipitation we are supposed to receive. I know last last year a surplus was recorded, but the previous year was down, but did it all equal out in the end?
I don’t know about the lake, since we are not allowed to use it even though it is our lake.

I’ve got seventeen tomoato plants in the ground and I don’t know how much more rain they can take. My guess is not much. Drainage was not a problem until last night rain when it really poured. My fingers are crossed on this one. At least I”ll still have an opportunity to plant new ones if the others don’t make it through the weekend.

I’m taking a break from mowing 1/4 acre of hay at my house while the sun shines this morning. If I have enough energy I’ll tackle the vacant house on my block next, if my neighbor doesn’t get to it first.
I have a great recipe for salsa. Got it from my daughter, who got it from the Internet: 12 plum tomatoes, 1 red onion, 4 jalapenos, cilantro to taste and a few teaspoons each of lime juice and lemon juice. Chop everything fine. Put it on everything!

FYI – It appears the Battle St. project is very close to completion.
Noticed restaurant workers placing tables and chairs on the new
wider sidewalks even as construction crews do finishing touches
on the brick crosswalks. If you get a chance, come down and see
it this weekend.
