FYI-
-Interested citizens are encouraged to attend tonight’s meeting.
The agenda is on the City of Manassas website.
-Under Virginia law, jurisdictions are required to advertise
proposed tax rates thirty days prior to the public hearing
on the budget (in Manassas that hearing will be April 20th).
The goal is to set these rates no later than March 11th so
they may in the March 16th newspaper. The final rates may
be lower than the advertised numbers, but not higher.
– There will be a public hearing March 9th at 7:30PM on the
City Manager’s Proposed Budget. This is not legally required,
but requested by council to hear from citizens earlier in the
buget process.
