My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

Republican Convention

I’ve had the creeping crud for the past few days so I’ve been laid up.  Hopefully I’ll be back at work and the City tomorrow.  I did take a nap yesterday so I was up late enough to see the speeches last night.  The speeches were fine but, being that this is a convention for a “maverick”, the message so far seems straight out of 2004.  This ain’t 2004 and the same strategy that worked for Bush isn’t going to work for Mac.  If it turns out that Tuesday night is a springboard for an appeal to a larger audience then it’s all good.  If they stay on the existing track, that’s bad…

There’s still 2 nights left and Gov. Palin is up tonight so we’ll see what happens.

  1. One of the great things about the net is being to read newspapers
    from around the world online.

Tim Reid writing in the London Times, “John McCain has picked
an Alaskan Margaret Thatcher to be his running mate … she blew
the roof off. Sharon Palin has now shaken up a presidential
race like no other nominee in modern times.”

I plan to go to the Joe Biden event at the Manassas campus of GMU,
but, after last night, thinking Nissan might be the only spot locally
large enough for a Sharon Palin event right now.

Agree with the GOP or not — they certainly have some Big Buzz now.

  2. Palin hit an “upper-deck dinger” last night with her speech, and I thought Rudy and Huck prepped the crowd well.
