So, I’ve kinda waited until the last minute but I’m riding in the Diabetes ride this weekend and haven’t raised a cent. If you can see your way to donating a couple of bucks, that would be great. If not, that’s great too. Here is my personal page.
This is my third year doing the diabetes ride. Steve Thomas has kindly joined me for the last two years – Team Misfits! We’re going 33 miles which should take just under 2 hours. We’ll have to hustle because there’s a lot going on that day. Sarah will be dressed up in her “period attire” over at the Railway Festival. Hopefully it isn’t 100 degrees Saturday!
The ride that I’m going to miss this year is the MS “Beyond the Beltway” ride. It is the weekend after but I’ve got a training plan to stick with for Bike Virginia. fun

I predict you will end up doing what I will end up doing: making a personal donation for the full-boat. 2-hours is a nice target, but I think it’ll be closer to 2 hrs. 3o minutes. I am riding a “15’ish” pace these days, which will certainly be faster than last year, but not enough to come in under 2. Supposed to be sunny and hot (90’ish). Besides raising money for a good cause, remind me again why I’m doing this 🙂

I’d guess you’re probably right about the donation this time around. Last year I raised about $1000 but I got off to an early start and only pitched in the base fee.
You do it for the scinillating conversation…I guess…:)

Alright, I headed out this morning with your sub-2 for 33 in mind. Road 15.1 miles at a 15.8 pace. I figure I’ll ride a bit faster as we work through the scrubs in the pack. A lot will depend on how late they hold the 33 milers, and how hot it gets out there.

The big challenge will be getting through the pack and in between the century guys and those taking a bit more casual pace. That’ll take a little bit of time but once we’re there we should be able to hold a 15-16 pace for a good while. We don’t want to be back in the pack in any event, too dangerous. If we’re dragging, we’ll just raise the pace a little…if we can hold it…:)
Heat doesn’t look to be too bad.
