My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

Outlawing Spanking?

This is a bit off my regular beat but I see on the news that someone in CA is trying to pass a law outlawing spanking.  I suppose, as with all things, if you employ the practice in moderation it is probably effective.  Go too far, of course, and it is abusive.  The larger question is does the government have any place further intruding in family matters?  Many things that different parents do could border on someone’s definition of “abuse”.  Too much homework?  Abuse.  Not enough exercise time or activities provided?  Abuse.  This seems ridiculous.

  1. STEPFORD WIVES…that’s what is happening to this country. No one will be allowed to think, do, react, to anything…WE ARE LOSING OUR FREEDOMS and NO ONE SEEs that IT IS HAPPENING before their eyes!

  2. I am suspicious of anything that come out of Kalifornia, but this is downright stupid. Abuse of children should not be tolerated, but a slap on the bottom of a misbehaving child is discipline. The government has no business regulating this.

  3. Maybe if that 3 year old on the Air Tran plane had a little swat on her behind, the parents would have been able to fly!

  4. Beneficial article. I think the fundamental component of obtaining in addition to young children is talking to them the correct way.
