Ok, I don’t really have any inside skinny on the redistricting deal but this article in the WaPo seems to indicate that redistricting could be done almost before it starts.
It’s sure to cause some consternation amongst the open-govt folks. I don’t really have an opinion on the whole thing other than I am glad I’m not involved.

Under this proposal we apparently move from the 10th to the 1st,
helping build our “community of interest” with the Northern Neck.

The real fun to watch is how the PWC Magisterial Districts end up. If done properly to rebalance to the +/- 57K residents per district, everything shifts toward the west. Gainesville will lose a few precints to the East, and Coles moves up and grabs that strip of the County seperating the two Cities, which presently sits in Brentsville.
Brentsville and Dumfries will be the two worth watching the most. If no shenigans happen, Dumfries slides up the southern edge of the County and picks up Nokesville & Brentsville – and the new Brentsville shifts north of Linton Hall Road. That means a potential for two things: the new Brenstville District would have no incumbant; and Supers Caddigan and Covington wind up in the same district!
Let the games begin!!!!

They can all claim this isn’t gerrymandering, but it is. Neither the current lines nor ANY of the proposed lines I’ve seen make any sense. IMHO the lines should be geographically logical irrespective of voting history. That ANYONE could think Manassas and the Northern Neck have ANYTHING in common is mind numbing.
