My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

The Sign Injunction

Yes, we were unsuccesful in our bid to get an injunction against those folks who keep putting up gigantic signs in their yard with no permits and in violation of City orders.  No, I don’t understand how the law works – we had a signed court order from the last go-round but the judge didn’t seem to think much of that.  I can only encourage everyone to follow the law.

We’ve never had much success in court with zoning or building cases.  I don’t know wether the courts just don’t think much of the City’s authority, the City don’t get it or I’m just ignorant but I do wonder what kind of violation would have to occur before a court took action.  Seems it would have to be pretty dramatic.  This is something that the City must better understand as we have many empty homes and are likely to have to take action in court in order to defend our neighborhoods at some point if the economy doesn’t come back to life and help us out some….
