My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

Tim Russert

I’ll miss Tim Russert.  I enjoyed his work on Meet the Press.  Most of all, I enjoyed watching him because he so clearly enjoyed his work.  I always got the impression that he would do what he was doing for free.  Some days I feel like that, other days…not so much.   Rest in peace Tim.

Gardening

We planted a garden this year.  It’s a small one and it is actually behind our office (office used to be a house) but we managed to fit some tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, lettuce  and a couple of pepper plants.  My kid actually had a burning desire to plant the thing and I know that I will be stuck with the bulk of the maintenance but I’m glad of it.  It is some work but it is relaxing to work in the garden.  The other side of the garden is actually eating the food you produce.

The lettuce has grown so fast that we picked some the other night and made a salad.  It’s been a long time since we had a garden but I’m always surprised at how different veggies out of the garden taste from those you get at the store.  Erin thought that it was a little too fresh – “tastes like grass” was her comment…:)
