Well, the mighty election of 2010 is over. I would like to thank my wife, who worked tirelessly over the last 24 hours as well as all of my volunteers. My face has a proper sunburn and I’m beat. A few observations before I crash:
1. I don’t know what to make of the Council election other than it didn’t seem to matter much to most folks. The difference in votes between the three council members was 21. Marc came in first, I was 5 votes behind him and Randolph was 21 votes behind him. With roughly 1200 votes cast, that’s a dead heat. I know Marc invested some work in the campaign and I put out signs and a mailer and the election was that close. I have trouble drawing any other conclusion than it didn’t matter much and that the real driver was the School Board election. Confusing.
2. Pam came in first in the School Board election. I went door-knocking with Pam and saw how hard she was working. I would have been surprised if she failed in her bid for the SB. I’ve known her for a long time so congratulations are in order!
3. Sanford Williams performed very well. He seemed to have good support from the school folks and did ok.
4. My buddy Tim go himself re-elected to the SB. I’m proud of Tim. The guy bleeds blue and grey and I’m always happy to work with him. He’s a true believer.
I’m glad to serve another term on City Council and hope that the next 4 years bring better economic times than the last 4.
I’m going to bed.
