My Side of the Fence

The danger isn't going too far. It's that we don't go far enough.

Beer Summit – Budget Style

I’m dusiting off the beer summit meetings and am going to host one on the proposed City Manager’s budget.  It’ll be on the 10th of March at my house.  I want to hear from folks and talk about what’s in the Manager’s budget, what’s new, what’s changed and what folks might want us to shoot for.

Details:  March 10th at 3:00pm.  Space is limited (my house is little) so there are 8 spaces available.  There is but one requirement: you must have been signed up for the Republican convention this year or voted in the last City election.  I want people that are involved and that’s my screening mechanism.  Email requests to andy@matrixcc.net

Update:  The formidable Mrs. Stevens points out that we should have 3 requirements and I agree.  The third is that you must have printed and read at least the executive summary from the CM’s budget presentation.  Further, bring that copy with you.  I ain’t payin to print out copies for everyone.

  1. Your choice for screening mech is notable. Salute!

  2. One Slot filled – Mrs. Brookshire!

  3. I’ll be there.

  4. You have 2 requirements…but that’s OK…I would have thought 3…you didn’t attend the last beer summit!

  5. I’ll be there.

  6. Ooops Sorry my bad…didn’t realize it was “OR” not “AND” still would have thought …you didn’t attend the last beer summit…even vampires like fresh blood! LOL

  7. You can count Marci and I in also.

  8. 4 so far – COM, CindyB, Bob and Marci. 4 slots left (rich and steve were kinda on the inside so they have to come…:)

  9. I would like to attend, Andy. However, I may still be gathering support to defeat Del Marshall’s upcoming abortion requirement bill. Defining the beginning of life by law is one thing, but using ‘mandatory’ and ‘vaginal ultrasound probes’ in the same sentence seems to be regulation that can’t possibly be described as ‘Constitutionalist’. And I can’t stand when governments try anything not proscribed specifically in the Constitution. I wonder if the probes would be made to resemble Del. Marshall?

  10. “I’m dusiting off the beer summit meetings and am going to host one….”

Just noticed the spelling…guess already “hoisted” one when writing? 🙂

  11. Andy, save a spot for me if there is still room.

To SCCFN, you were making a reasonable argument until the last sentence- then you lost me completely. Vulgar ad hominem attacks are for the weak-minded, and likely not too many of those frequent this blog…

Sure! Why not? As long as we mandate that implements used in abortions be made to resemble the President, or other assorted Pro-Choice politicians. Let’s all have a big Rachel Maddow laugh about Air-Head Biden suction devices. The crudity and ignorance of the outraged Abortion advocates over Delegate, and Senate Candidate Marshall’s Bill is astounding.

  13. Andy, have not jumped in to claim a seat at the summit (as of the time of my writing looks like 3 are left) as have not seen the budget yet and figure let some others have a shot at the seats. All that and…

There are the two projects you and I have touched on which actually are continuing from the Housing Beer Summit of long age ago. Figure since the vision from the summit is so side tracked, figure to right the rails and see if your vision can once more come to life.

  14. 6 so far – COM, CindyB, Bob and Marci, Nettie and Mr. Bookwalter.

@Ray: the budget will be presented before the summit.

  15. Yup…Budget Presentation is February 27th.

Andy, at least you don’t have to resolve a
“Mardi Gras Battle on Battle Street” .

  17. Kind of funny to see carman signs in republican primary participants front yards!

  18. I cackle just seeing Carman signs, but if he’s a legit and fully petitioned candidate by now, I’m laughing less. Enjoy the summit, I hope you get constructive feedback.

  19. Andy, I’d love to attend if there are any slots left.
