From Joe Martin:

“We are in desperate need of volunteer Marshals for this Saturday’s Greater Manassas Christmas Parade. Your responsibilities are simple – you take a two block section of the parade route and keep the little dear ones from running out into harms way and help to keep the parade moving along at a nice pace.

We will be holding an information/sign up meeting this Wednesday at Center St. Grille (old O’Meara’s) in Old Town Manassas starting at 6:00pm (If you are signed up to help with staging you are welcome to come too!). We will be there for a couple of hours so don’t worry if you are running late. The parade committee will be providing beverages and light snacks. We also provide breakfast Saturday morning for all volunteers starting at 7:30am and the parade starts at 10:00am.

If you can’t help out this year please let your friends, fellow employees and neighbors know we need help and feel free to give them my contact information below.”

If you want to volunteer, attend the meeting or email me at andy@harrover.com or post your info below.  I’d recommend one of the first two.

From Timmy:

“Game has been changed. Osbourn vs. Massaponax Friday 7:30 at Liberty High School. Corner of 17 & 28.”

GO EAGLES!!

In the cold Liberty stadium and in the face of a howling wind, Osbourn came up short last night 26-10.  I don’t know a lot about high school football but Massaponax seems to be a team with at least one prospect and a legit threat to score from anywhere on the field.  In the face of such opposition, I thought the Eagles performed admirably.  The wind played havoc with our passing game which forced the majority of the offense onto the running game.  The ground game produced but when we got closer to the end zone, the yards got tougher.  Kudos to the defense who, in the second half was incredibly stingy.

Congrats to the team and their coaches who produced a great season and a lot of excitement for their families and our community.  I’m incredibly proud of our team!

Alright, it isn’t really me that’s on fire but I simply couldn’t start another blog post with “fire update”.  That and nobody seemed to much care about my re-election announcement!…<grin>.  The deadline for comments on the new fire and rescue ordinance has come and gone and we have comments from the Volunteer fire department (via their attorney), the firefighters union and the Rescue Squad.

The comments submitted reflect a diversity of opinions.  There will be a meeting at some point to go over what all of this means.  I don’t know when that will be but I thought that, on a matter of such import, I would update everyone.

Vice Mayor Andrew Harrover and Councilman Marc Aveni will officially announce their intention to seek re-election as Republican candidates for the May 2010 Manassas City Council election!

Please join family and friends, Mayor Parrish, other Republican Councilmembers, and fellow Republican Committee members for a very short presentation in the lobby of Manassas City Hall at 5 p.m. on Monday, December 14th and show support for these two candidates on their succesful re-election campaign!

It’s on like Donkey Kong! (That didn’t go out on the official notice…:)
